Children’s Liturgy of the Word is an age-appropriate liturgy offered for pre-K through third grade children at the 9:30 AM mass each week at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.  The goal for this ministry is to help children hear God’s message in a way that is more understandable for them.  No pre-registration is necessary.  All children are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Just before the Liturgy of the Word begins for the assembly, these children are invited to follow adult leaders into St. Philip Hall.  During this special time, adult volunteers read the gospel from a Children’s Lectionary and lead the children through readings, prayers and activities.  The children learn the same message as the rest of the assembly.    They are taught a simplified main message from the readings and are encouraged to share that message with their family members after mass.
During COVID restrictions, Children’ Liturgy of the Word is not being held in St. Philips Hall but the weekly activity worksheets are being sent home with first and second grade Religious Education Program students each Monday for the following weekend.  Additional worksheets can be found in the back of church on the round wooden offertory gift table for use by any children attending mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
